Hello Elizabeth,
I have been checking out your web site, trying to locate Mary Trevena's family.I am emailing you to see if any of the information you have ties in with the small amount I have( and this may not be accurate). Mary has been a puzzle to us for years.
Mary is the mother of Elizabeth Mclellan (or Maclellan) born 4 May 1850 Melbourne Victoria. Mary married a John Maclellan or Mclellan in Victoria in 1849.
Elizabeth may not have been the first child. There may have been another daughter named Isabella in 1849.( she probably died young.)
Mary lost a sister on the ship coming to Australia, her name was Grace Trevena, she died at sea. The name Grace Trevena was given to one of Elizabeth Mclellan's daughters. (it has been used a few other times in the family tree according to my grandfather. He passed away in 1990 so it is impossible to check all his information.)
The family story goes that Mary's husband was a sailor and was lost in a shipwreck?? a few years after Elizabeth was born. Her mother died when she was young (not sure how young) and she was bought up by the Billing or Mullins family as a foster child. My Grand father said on several occasions Billing then mentioned Mullins in one of the discussions, we had. Elizabeth married Edward Fisher in Melbourne on 1 June 1871.
Elizabeth Mclellan knew some of her family history, as she gave her children family names, from her husband's side and her own side.
I am not sure if this information will ring any bells, but there was a mention of a brother and I wonder if this was Mary's brother as Elizabeth did not have any brothers I am aware of. I wonder if Mary was the missing Trevena name on the Thesis ???
As you see I have no solid proof this is family oral history and information from the Fisher Family Bible.(which is about the Fisher and Stocks Lines)
Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I would really appreciate any information about Mary Trevena or finding out there is no link.
Regards Chris Watson
