A third John Lord? The British Hotel was extensively expanded under the previous Licensee/owner Thomas Graham during the 1840s when it is described as a substantial building (rather than a tent or temporary building). The license of the British Hotel was then held by George Aitcheson. Daniel McIntosh took it over in early March 1853. He was still described as a Victualler at his death in May 1856 although it appears the license was transferred to his brother-in-law James Woodside in April 1855. Daniel McIntosh's widow Martha Love Woodside married 1857 #339 to John Lord of the Young Queen Inn (or Hotel), Sydney Road, "Spring Vale, Dry Creek". He had taken over the license from George Somerville in March 1853. For more on the 'Young Queen' see notes for Edward Butler
