Edward Carroll / Kell is the brother of Andrew and John, who arrived on the same boat and are listed as "Kill". The "John Carrol" is actually James Kell.
After a residence of two years at Port Phillip, Edward decided to return to Scotland, while Margaret and her family moved north, to Liverpool, New South Wales, and thence, after a few years, to Mittagong, where they carried on farming for seven years, and afterwards kept a hotel.
In 1856 James Kell born 1837 in Glasgow, Scotland, went to Tumut, and engaged in carrying, when the freight charges from Sydney amounted to 40 a ton. He was married in 1860 to Sarah Anderson, died in 1885, the daughter of Mr. Francis Andersen of Tumut, and has issue three sons and six daughters.

The first child registered by the mother was in 1859 after she took up with another 'gentleman' followed by another 8, but the first 3 weren't registered.
