Jeffrey James Keating Surg Supt Directory 1847 licentiate apothecary & surgeon, Collins st, Jefferey J. - Doctors Feb 1 1847 Melbourne Melbourne, Page 49 Doctors, 1 Feb 1847 . See Rootsweb note on his home in Collins St in the Rate Books of 1845 and 1847. An entry dated 1998 from Jan Glasby notes
Recently I received the death certificate of my gg grandfather Dr Jeffrey James Keatinge. It tells me he was baptised c 1809 (father Jeffery Keatinge, gentleman; mother unknown) in Limerick and married Mary Duffy in Dublin around 1833 when he was aged 24.
He was the ship's surgeon on the Argyle which arrived in Port Phillip in 1841 and settled in Melbourne before moving to Albury NSW where he died in 1876.
His daughter baptised in Ireland, Sarah Duffy, arrived about 1848 with her two sons Thomas and Terence Keating. I haven't been able to find their arrival either - I think they might have come via NSW although I haven't found them there.
