Hi Elizabeth, The parents of Martha and Mary Ann Fitzgerald were Thomas Fitzgerald d 1835 Wexford, Ireland , he was deputy governor Wexford Goal and Mary Ann (Ann) Gladwin, we do not have any further info on them except Thomas may have also been in the army.
Martha Fitzgerald b 1820 Wexford, Ireland d 1877 Harrow, Victoria married a John Brant around 1846.
There was another sister Margaret Fitzgerald, she was also in Victoria, but we have not located her arrival, on her death cert it states she was married twice first to a person named Keogh, then to a William Rose, she died at Harrow, Victoria in 1894 Reg No 2029, she may have travelled her under the name Keogh.
Mary Ann Fitzgerald and her sister Martha Fitzgerald were accompanied on the voyage on the China by their aunt and uncle, William and Jane Sparrow along with two of their children, Elizabeth and Mary Sparrow. Jane Sparrow nee Gladwin was a sister of Mary Ann and Martha’s mother.
I found Margaret Fitzgerald wed 1855 #613 to William Rose and no children are registered for them.
