John Harvey Doyle, his wife Ellen (who was Miss Harvey) arrived in Melbourne in 1841. With them were (we believe) their 7 children.

James Doyle cleared on 2 Oct 1844 and sailed 5 Oct from Melbourne for Portland Sally Ann, source local newspapers The parents were baptised in Ireland (Tipperary?) around 1800, and married around 1820. After a time in Melbourne, they went to the area near Warrnambool.
I cannot find what happened to the parents. I've trawled through Victorian records with no joy, and taken a long look at NSW as well, because their eldest boy went there to live. But all to no avail.
Equally mystifying is one of their daughters, Sarah. She was baptised in Ireland c.1824, and baptised (or re-baptised?) in Melbourne in 1850 on her 26th birthday. I fancied this was because papers had been lost, and the lass wanted to marry or join a convent. But no amount of searching can locate her information.

David Coombe Dear Elizabeth, I think I have thanked you before for your website but do so again - I found it a most useful resource in my research.
I have found a small fact that might add to this page, featuring (Constable) Ambrose Draper, about whom I wrote in "Three Rabbits Alibi". Your page has him arriving from London, but he actually came from South Australia on a ship that originated in London and went on to Port Phillip.
I serendipitously came across Draper as a 1838 resident of Port Adelaide, signatory to a petition. Source: 1838 'PUBLIC MEETING TO ADDRESS THE GOVERNOR.', Southern Australian (Adelaide, SA : 1838 - 1844), 20 October, p. 3. , viewed 19 Jun 2016, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article71684848 Double-checking in http://familyhistorysa.info/colonists.html, I found the following DRAPER Ambrose, Rose (wife) arrived 1837-12-04 on Lady Emma from London
DRAPER Ambrose, Rose ?, parents of child born 1838-05-27 (bap) named Richard Thomas Edward at Adelaide This coincides with Ambrose and Rose Draper of your web page. You have them arriving 10 May 1840 from London on the Orissa. The Orissa did stop some time at Adelaide before proceding to Port Phillip and the Drapers would hae taken the Orissa from Port Adelaide.
