    arrived Jan 1839 barque, under command of Captain Hart arrived in Sydney 2 Oct 1838 and then to Port Phillip to arrive Jan 1839, was the first to bring 20 families consisting of 100 souls, plus 3 single men, from Sydney and 20 found work in Port Phillip with 18 employers - see my page on the Hope
  • The Colonist, Sydney, NSW, Wednesday 19 December 1838 repors her departure - a barque, Greaves, for Port Phillip with about 130 emigrants, and a detachment of the 51st regiment
  • The Australian, Sydney, NSW Tuesday 18 December 1838 is more specific - Passengers - four Protectors of the Aborigines, 8 prisoners, 25 soldiers and 130 emigrants.
